Современный рынок солнечных батарей условно делится на несколько классов:

- маломощные солнечные батареи, которые применяются для зарядки мобильных телефонов, КПК и подобной электроники. Для этого класса характерным является малая площадь фотопластин и достаточно высокая цена.

- универсальные солнечные батареи, изготавливаются для питания в полевых условиях, поэтому наиболее подходят для разного рода туристических путешествий. Универсальные солнечные батареи импортного производства отличаются сравнительно неплохим качеством, привлекательным дизайном, имеют дополнительные переходники и приемлемую цену. Солнечные батареи универсального класса, изготовленные нашим производителем, бывают заводскими и полусерийными. Стоимость и качества данных батарей может колебаться в довольно широких пределах, поэтому приобретая солнечную батарею необходимо рассматривать каждую модель в отдельности.

Кухонные плиты можно разделить на свободностоящие классические и встраиваемые. В последнее время все большую популярность приобретает встраиваемая техника. Основным преимуществом таких моделей является возможность расположения на необходимой высоте духового шкафа отдельно от варочной поверхности. Следует учитывать, что стоимость встраиваемых кухонных плит на порядок выше традиционных свободностоящих моделей, к тому же при установке встраиваемой кухонной плиты требуется смена мебели, а может и даже всего интерьера помещения с заменой напольного покрытия. Кстати, ковры плохое решение для кухни, даже ковролин будет здесь неуместен.

Отдельностоящая плита

Также бывают электрические, газовые и комбинированные кухонные плиты. Во многих современных моделях газовых плит присутствует газ-контроль, гарантирующий пользователю безопасность. Данная система автоматически прекращает подачу газа при погасании пламени. Но данная функция имеет недостаток: во время включения необходимо на несколько секунд придержать регулировочную ручку.

Разогрев конфорок газовой плиты более быстрый, чем в электрических моделях. Но современные дорогостоящие электроплиты практически приблизились к газовым кухонным плитам. Конфорки в газовых плитах включаются сразу, а в электроплитах конфорки инерционные, нагревающиеся и остывающие со временем.

В газовых плитах может присутствовать система электроподжига, что значительно упрощает включение и освобождает от проблемы закончившихся спичек и неисправных зажигалок.

Помимо всего прочего, в таких кухонных плитах существуют решетки – подставки, которые подходят для мытья в посудомоечных машинах. В нынешних моделях кухонных плит изготовители предусмотрели для каждой конфорки индивидуальную решетку, что существенно облегчает процесс очищения необходимой части плиты.

Встраиваемая плита

В последнее время чаще в газовых кухонных плитах встречаются чугунные решетки вместо металлических. Такие решетки под воздействием высокой температуры со временем не облупятся и не потеряют свой изначальный вид.

В случае если в доме не предусмотрен центральный подвод газа, стоит приобрести электрическую плиту. В настоящее время рынок предлагает разнообразные комбинированные газоэлектрические модели. Выделяют два вида газоэлектрических плит: газовая варочная поверхность и электрический духовой шкаф либо совмещенные на одной панели газовые и электрический конфорки. Как правило, для второго типа характерно наличие трех газовых и одной электрической конфорок или вариант “два на два”. Такие кухонные плиты идеально подойдут для многоквартирных домов, в которых небольшое давление газа в вечернее время и на приготовление пищи уходит больше времени. В этом случае отличную помощь окажет электрическая конфорка. Кроме этого следует обращать внимание на габариты плиты, если вы живете на первых этажах здания, то нет проблем с доставкой на нужный этаж. А в случае вашего проживания, скажем на 7 этаже, нужно обратить внимание на размер самой плиты, чтобы шахта лифта не оказалась малой для нее. К тому же на небольшой кухне она будет занимать непозволительно много места.

CC the new Passat at Detroit

Volkswagen has chosen the CC tag for its new Passat model, but the car does not have a folding metal convertible roof as the name may suggest. Instead, the Passat CC unveiled at the North American International Auto Show is a four-seat, four-door coupé is aimed at tackling the likes of the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes C-Class.

Based on the existing Passat’s platform, the CC has a lower, more sweeping roofline that flows into the boot in a similar fashion to the Mercedes CLS’s. A large panoramic sunroof adds to the CC’s distinctive looks and gives the cabin an airy feel. There are also subtle changes to the headlights and rear lights of the CC to distinguish it from the standard Passat saloon.

Unlike the four-door Passat saloon, the CC has only four seats thanks to two individual rear chairs with a large centre section between them that holds a large storage cubby. In the front, the dash is much like any other Passat’s, though there are new wood or aluminium trim options and revised buttons for the climate control. All CCs will come with eight airbags as standard.

The Passat CC will be available with VW’s Dynamic Drive Control that offers three suspension settings – comfort, normal and sport – though this will be an option. Engine choices start with a 158bhp 1.8 turbo petrol that provides 0-62mph in 8.6 seconds and a 137mph top speed.

There’s also a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 197bhp for 0-62mph in 7.9 seconds and 147mph, while a 296bhp 3.6-litre V6 petrol tops the range with 0-62mph in 5.6 seconds and a 155mph top speed. This models comes with 4Motion four-wheel drive and a DSG sequential manual gearbox as standard.

Diesels are taken care of by 138- and 167bhp versions of VW’s 2.0-litre turbodiesel and these are expected to be the most popular models when the Passat CC goes on sale in the UK this summer. Prices have yet to be confirmed, but VW says they are likely to start at around £19,500.

Genesis in the making

Hyundai is fast shedding its image as a maker of cheap and cheerless cars and is increasingly taking on the mainstream European manufacturers at their own game. The Genesis is the next step in that march to rival the best of Europe as Hyundai enters the executive sector.

Set to be launched at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next week, the Genesis has conservative styling to appeal to the restrained tastes of many of the buyers in this category. Aimed primarily at the USA, the Genesis is also likely to make it to Europe, but with only the V6 engines on offer.

In the USA, the Genesis will be offered with 3.3- and 3.8-litre V6 engines and a 4.6-litre V8 with 368bhp, while Europe will only see the 3.3 V6. All engine options come with a six-speed automatic gearbox as standard, which, coupled to the 264bhp 3.3 V6, should offer 0-62mph in 8.0 seconds and a 140mph top speed.

Hyundai has not said anything about on-sale dates or possible prices for the UK, but if the Genesis goes on sale here it should cost from around £25,000. Should the Genesis reach the UK, it will be generously equipped with satnav, leather seats, climate and cruise controls and alloy wheels as standard.

In the world of Corvette, the ZR1 is the ultimate and the American firm has just announced it plans to build an all-new ZR1 with a supercharged 6.2-litre V8 engine. Based on the current Z06’s lightweight body and frame, the ZR1 will also have a see-through bonnet section so everyone can admire the engine.

Other body changes compared to the Z06 include a front splitter similar to the one used on Corvette’s Le Mans race cars, a carbon fibre roof section and huge vents to duct hot air away from the front brakes. There are also aerodynamic side skirts and a larger rear wing for high speed stability.

The real star of the ZR1, though, is the new 6.2-litre V8 engine that uses a supercharger to help it produce 650bhp. Even though it has a smaller capacity than the Z06’s 7.0-litre engine, the ZR1 is more powerful and is also claimed to be greener and less thirsty.

Chevrolet has not confirmed performance figures, but the ZR1 features a 220mph speedo and 0-60mph is rumoured to be around 3.4 seconds. The price in the USA should be around $100,000 and if the ZR1 is sold in the UK it should cost £80,000, making it something of a supercar bargain.

1 Ferrari 599XX

For just 1.1 million (before local taxes) you can buy a Ferrari 599XX that’s not homologated to be used on the road. Instead this 700bhp monster comes with full access to Ferrari’s technicians, six track events and the chance to help shape Ferrari’s future road car development. At least that’s what Ferrari claims.

2 Bugatti Veyron Bleu Centenaire

Bored of your regular Bugatti? Then you need to get in touch with the hypercar maker and order up this one-off Bleu Centenaire model. It has been built to celebrate 100 years of Bugatti and costs a quite staggering 1.35m. If you’re not quick enough just wait until the next motorshow, where Bugatti will no doubt create another ‘one-off’ Veyron to help shift the last 50 it’s got penned in for production.

3 Aston Martin One – 77

British firm Aston Martin showed off a mock-up of its super-exclusive One-77 hypercar at the Geneva show. Actually, with 77 planned it’s not that exclusive, which has to hurt a bit when you’re forking out 1m to have one in your garage. That’s a lot for a car that looks little different to the old Vanquish with a few more scoops. Buy a V8 Vantage and send it to a coachbuilder if you want a truly unique Aston. You’ll save a fortune, too.

4 Maybach Zeppelin

The Zeppelin might be unusual in this list for not being a supercar but this mighty Maybach does have a sub-five second 0-62mph time and plenty of power on tap. So it should, as it’s not exactly a snip at 473,200. That’s before you start adding options, too. There might be a recession going on around the world, but nobody seems to have mentioned it to the people at Maybach.

5 Brabus G V12 S Biturbo

The Mercedes G-Wagen might be an automotive geriatric, but that’s not stopped the loons at Brabus putting a 690bhp turbocharged V12 engine under its square-cut bonnet. Doing so creates an absolute monster, the G V12 S reaching 62mph in a quite staggering 4.3 seconds. All for the starting price of, wait for it, 379,000 – making this easily the most expensive off-roader to be on show at Geneva. Absurd.

Land Rover LRX leaked

Land Rover intended to show these first pictures of its LRX concept later this week as a teaser for the Detroit show in January, but they’ve come to light earlier than expected. The LRX is a new concept car and shows off Land Rover’s commitment to a green future.

The LRX is made from lightweight materials, many of which can be recycled and are environmentally sustainable. Even the interior is made from biodegradable materials and has leather seats that are coloured with vegetable dyes.

Land Rover has made the LRX slightly shorter and considerably lower than a Freelander, strongly indicating the firm’s plan to introduce a sportier crossover model to sit beneath the Freelander in size and price. The looks of the LRX underline this, though Land Rover says the concept also gives a good idea of the general direction its styling will take in the future.

However, the LRX remains a Land Rover and has permanent four-wheel drive and the company’s Terrain Response system that tailors its all-wheel drive to the conditions. The production version of the LRX will come with a range of engines, notably a turbodiesel engine fitted with Stop-Start technology to make it as environmentally friendly as possible.

Land Rover won’t be drawn on when a production version of the LRX will make it into showrooms or a likely price, but expect the new model to be on sale by 2010.

2011 Nissan Versa Pricing Announced

Nissan has announced modest price increases for the 2011 Versa. The two body styles remain: Sedans are available with a 1.6- or 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine, while hatchbacks offer only the larger unit.

The cheapest Versa sedan is the 1.6 Base, which climbs $10 to $10,740. It comes with almost no standard equipment and is one of the least expensive cars to own. The Versa 1.6 adds more content and starts at $11,990, an increase of $260 over 2010 prices due in part to the addition of ABS. Trading the standard five-speed manual for a four-speed automatic adds $1000.

Stepping up to the 1.8-liter engine in a sedan requires the 1.8 S trim, which is $14,320 with a six-speed manual transmission or $15,320 with a four-speed automatic. Those prices are $480 higher than in 2010, thanks in part to the addition of a six-disc CD changer. The costliest Versa sedan is the 1.8 SL, available only with an automatic transmission for $17,220, an increase of $380 versus last year. The SL trim is the only level to which a navigation system can be added.

Hatchback variants are offered only in 1.8 S and 1.8 SL trims. The former is $14,270 with a manual or $15,270 with an automatic transmission, increases of $380 over last year’s prices. Pricing for the 1.8 SL, equipped only with a continuously variable transmission, climbs $380 to $17,650.

The 2011 Versa is available now at Nissan dealerships.

Ford Adds CNG and LPG Options for F-450, F-550

Starting later this year, Ford will allow fleet buyers of F-450 and F-550 Super Duty chassis-cab vehicles to specify a compressed-natural-gas (CNG) or liquefied-petroleum-gas (LPG; you probably know it as propane) package for the vehicles’ 6.8-liter V-10 engine.

Last fall, Ford debuted LPG and CNG capabilities for the E-series van equipped with 5.4-liter V-8 and 6.8-liter V-10 engines, and has to date sold 3000 vehicles so equipped. The alternative-fuel prep will also be offered on the Transit Connect’s 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine by the end of this year.

Ford only prepares the engines for the new fuels, typically with hardened exhaust valves and valve seats plus platinum-tipped spark plugs, while the actual conversion to LPG or CNG takes place at a separate outfitter selected by the fleet buyer. Ford charges $315 to have an E-series or Transit Connect prepared for the fuel switch, and about $325 for an F-series Super Duty.

The full conversion cost varies depending on which outfitter you choose. Roush is one of many companies that will perform the switch, and, for a propane-powered Ford F-250 we recently drove, the conversion process alone cost $11,045. Roush also offers conversions for the F-150, F-350, and E-series.

Audi Q7 Concept Has 62 Speakers for Extreme Surround-Sound

Those who pay attention to such details will remember that the Audi A8 has an optional Bang & Olufsen sound system with no fewer than 19 speakers that combine for 1400 watts of music. Now Audi engineers have teamed with the Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technology to create a Q7 concept vehicle with 62 speakers.

The 57 speakers and five subwoofers are squeezed into the dashboard, roof pillars, and doors. Three computers are housed in the trunk to operate the audio system. As well as providing extremely precise surround-sound playback, the huge number of speakers permit “wave field synthesis,” which allows the system to simulate the effect of sounds playing anywhere in space. Audi says they can make it seem like vocals comes from several feet outside the car, for example.

Unfortunately, you can’t just plug in your iPod and crank up Metallica. Audio recordings must be produced specially for the 32-track format, and so far there are zero companies doing so. Audi says the vehicle is just a concept to illustrate the brand’s current sound system research, and that lessons learned from the Q7 will help guide future in-car audio systems.
